Saying No To Boring Weekends at Subic

A kabarkada of mine said NO TO BORING WEEKENDS. So, 5 of us (Desi, Julie, Hazel, Mariko, and I) said HELL NO to a boring Saturday and went to Subic in Zambales to try the TREE TOP ADVENTURE.

We woke up at ungodly hour (4.30am) so we could all leave for Subic at 5am. Subic is about 3 hours from Manila. Thank God for SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) going to Subic, and most towns in Central Luzon, isn't much of a hassle anymore! It was a scenic drive along SCTEX, you'd see endless farmlands and hills. It was a Saturday but the usual busy roads were deserted!

Subic is the last exit from SCTEX. You wouldn't get lost, there's a huge sign that says you're already at Subic. A huge caution to drivers, Subic was once American territory, so their traffic rules in the place APPLY and are STRICTLY ENFORCED. So watch out for the signs, stop when it says stop, and first one to stop is the first to go!

And also while watching out for traffic signs, watch out also for signs that says JEST, that's where the Tree Top Adventure is! I'm sure if guys keep your eyes peeled, you wouldn't get lost!

You know you're in the right place when you this:

And this:

You'd also see the old American bunkers in the place. Not sure if they're still being used. But they seem to be in good form.

Before the tree top adventure begins everyone is given a 2-3 minute briefing. Here they'd explain to you the activities you could enjoy and the packages you can avail of. CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO ENLARGE

And yes it's always SAFETY FIRST here.

After a brief huddle, we availed of Package E (P620) which included all motorized "thrill rides" and left out the trekking. But we added about P250 more for the Interactive Free Fall.

Next step is to go the Cashier, pay up, and get your tickets from these ladies.

Upon recommendation of the staff, we tried the Canopy Ride first. It was this slow ride that gave you a bird's eye view of the forest and had 5 stations which varied in height. Here we were being suited up first before taking on the Canopy Ride.

I'm sorry to say but the Canopy Ride can be a bit boring. It was painfully SLOW and all you could see where trees and the crows flying around. It was a FLOPPED version of the Flying Fiesta in Enchanted Kingdom, a theme park in Laguna. But it gave us a lot of opportunities to take pictures of ourselves.

Up next was the Interactive Free Fall. It was kinda boring but it was better than the Canopy Ride. They assimilate free fall by jerking you up and down as you hold on to those railings.

We had a good time laughing and squealing at the same time though.

After the kiddie rides, we finally got to encounter the REAL DEAL ADRENALINE RUSH rides. Right beside the Interactive Free Fall was the Superman Ride, in short the zip line.

You zip across the forest twice, backwards and then forward. They call it Superman because you can zip through with your arms in front of you ala Superman.

Now, I won't lie this was fun if not for the painful tug of the safety belts on my stomach. The staff had to re-do my belt because it was really painful. I couldn't wait for the ride to be over because it was really putting pressure on my ribs.

But again, it was fun! I just wish the zip line was a wee bit longer.

Last but not the least, was the cream of the crop, the motherload, the Tree Top Adventure a.k.a as THE free fall.

There was a long queue so we just sat around and watched the others go at the free fall. You could do 2 things, go to the snack bar and chomp of junk food while waiting.

Or you could also do this!! :D

You could also laugh along with the staff who make good funny jokes as the people jump off the free fall platform. By the way, the staff of the Tree top Adventure are the best staff I've ever encountered. They're hilarious and they really accommodate the customers. Kudos to these people! They make you have a great stay at the park!

So when we finally got our turn, it was a new wave of adrenaline rush altogether. We all agreed on the fact that when they let you go, you wouldn't feel the rope behind you. It's like you're really actually falling, and falling fast! How I wish the drop was longer! It was so bitin!

All-in-all it was a really fun experience! Although the thrill rides were a little bitin, at least you could say that you have already tried the zip line and the free fall! I LOVE heights, and this was one hell of a good time for me! I really suggest you guys try this! You'd definitely love it! One for the barkadas and families who love to try things on the wild side! :D
