I know I still got lots of blog entries lined up but still haven't gotten to write about them yet hehehe I'm sorry! But to make up for this laziness in writing my blog entries, let me entice you guys with my first-ever giveaway! And since it's almost Valentine's day, I made sure you guys are gonna get something very sweet! :)

Last night I was chatting with my Tito Romy, husband of my aunt in Facebook. Yes, that's how cool my tito is, he chats up his pamangkins (nices and nephews) in Facebook (ha!). He told me to get the package from their friend who came home to the Philippines a couple of days ago.

So today, we got the very treat-full of goodies from my aunt who lives in Fontana, California. I've specifically requested for the Mo's Milk Chocolate Bacon Bar when they asked last Christmas what we wanted from the US. After months of anticipation, it finally arrived.

Opening the package I was expecting just one or two chocolate bars. Of course my Mom and I had to taste it first.

It was really good!! The saltiness of the bacon bits went so well with the sweetness of the milk chocolate. We had a good time nibbling on the bacon bits, we didn't realize Mom and I had finished the entire bar! Yes, it was THAT GOOD!!

And so now here's the good part. I'm giving away 3 bars to a lucky follower! Yey! I know I promised a giveaway when I wrote about our Ilocos trip. To keep my promise and to thank you all for reading my blog, I think it's high time I gave you guys a treat!! :D And it's a perfect gift for Valentine's Day, too!

Here are the mechanics:

That's it! This giveaway will only apply to those in the Metro. Sorry guys! I'll close the giveaway contest when I've reached 25 comments. Then I'll RANDOMLY select the lucky recipient of these goodies, as in I'll be writing your names in little pieces of paper and draw lots! Old school cool right? :)

So what are you guys waiting for?! FOLLOW ME AND COMMENT NOW!! :D

Cebu Lechon Now Enjoyed in Manila

Besides the famous Sto. NiƱo, the historic island of Mactan where Lapu-Lapu killed Magellan, and it's pristine beaches, Cebu is also know for having THE BEST lechon in the whole country. I was lucky enough to have a taste of this BEST LECHON during my cousin's May wedding in Cebu. They had a huge piggy at their reception, and it lived up to its name!

But since not everyone could get to Cebu in any given day, people just normally forget about it. But by some lucky twist of fate Cebu lechon manok and lechon liempo can now be enjoyed ANYTIME of the DAY thanks to CHIC-BOY!

Mom introduced me to this restaurant when she read it in the paper. I've been meaning to eat here and finally got to do so when my friends and I, coming from an adventure-filled day from Subic, decided to have one last pit stop for dinner.

Chic-Boy is under mother company Pier One Bar and Grill Holdings Corporation, which also has under its wings Pier One Bar and Grill, a popular hang-out place to eat, get sloshed and catch-up with friends while listening to a live band. It first opened it's store in Marikina 2 years ago, under the take-out store system. The first dine-in store opened last May 5, 2010.

The store in Jupiter was such a cozy place to eat in. But the first thing that greets you, and entices you to eat is this:

Chic-Boy's huge ihawan (grilling) area. You can see those plump chickens and the meat being grilled to perfection! Perfect for building your appetite!

One thing I loved about the Jupiter Branch is they are so bright! Bright lights and bright walls! And going around the dining area isn't much of a problem here, you'll never feel cramped! It was very spacious.

In the middle is their counter where you are greeted by friendly servers who are glad to be of service. And right above is their huge menu board with pictures of those yummy, yummy grilled food. You should take time to check out their menu. They offer other kinds of food besides the lechon liempo and lechon manok!

But for our hungry group of weary adventure seekers, we had CB-6 which was the Cebu Lechon Liempo with UNLIMITED rice and house soup.

I didn't order this, but I had a taste and it was delicious. The meat was tender, and the skin was really crispy! The meat is also so tasty, you wouldn't need to shower it with sauce. Made 4 people in my group totally satisfied!

As for me, I ordered CB-5 Cebu Lechon Manok, with UNLIMITED rice and house soup.

The chicken was also really tasty, it didn't disappoint. The meat was also soft and easy to chew. The house soup was really good with the rice. It wasn't salty like other house soups I've tasted. And at P99 it is totally filling!

So come to Chic-Boy if you're craving for the authentic Cebu taste. And you wouldn't have to worry, Chic-Boy is open 24 hours, meaning you can have it anytime of the day!

Definitely worth trying! Go to your nearest Chic-Boy store and either eat in or take out a huge chicken or liempo for the family! Let me know how your Chic-Boy experience goes for you! :D

Happy Fother's Day Dinner @ LU

Yep! You read it right. Fother's Day. You see, to those who know me, I only have a Mom. But if I write down the whole story, it'll take up most of the blog entry. So to make the long story short, I have a Mom who is both a mother and father to me. And I couldn't ask for more! :)

So last June 20, I decided to treat her to LU, the restaurant she's been wanting to eat in for quite some time now. She heard Ricky Carandang rave about LU's porkchops on ANC. And I've also read some reviews about this place. So it was a perfect excuse to spend. :)

I've blogged about me spending money on food, and I must tell you every single peso I paid was freaking worth it at LU! Here's what we ordered:

Lamb Bolognese on Rigatoni. I must say that that week I had the misfortune of eating great tasting pasta with UNDERCOOKED noodles. The noodles were again a bit tough, Mom commented that they might have been scared to overcook the noodles. Either way, it was delicious! It was a bit maasim, but the LAMB was yummy! No malansa taste for this lamb dish! :) A must try! :D

LU's Ultimate Porkchops. And oh. my. was it ULTIMATE! ULTIMATELY TO-DIE-FOR! We understood at once, make that at first bite, why Ricky Carandang just can't get enough of this! The porkchop was HUGE! And super duper tender! YUMMY!!

That would be my Mother, or should I say, Fother, cutting up the porkchops! :p

Mom and I aren't really heavy eaters, but we finished every single thing on our plates! It was yummy! And right now, I dream about going back to LU just to eat! I have to order those damn porkchops again, and the famous Truffled Mac & Cheese! :)

I wanted dessert to go, because Mom wanted to have coffee. So I ordered this gem of a dessert. Presenting the PB&J Tart! :)

I am on a constant diet, because if I don't watch what I eat, I'd be as big as the globe! Seriously! But this damn thing did me in! Mom's not into sweets either, but she loved this! I have a love affair with peanut butter, I don't and will not ever get tired of it, so this was the ultimate treat for me. Good Lord in Heaven Above! If you guys are planning on eating at LU, please leave space for dessert, because you will miss out on a WHOLE FREAKING LOT when you don't order this one! AND WITH COFFEE, Diyos ko PATAYAN NA TALAGA!

But like any restaurant, LU has it's flaws. Despite it being high-end, the staff seemed to be a bit negligent. I've heard stories about long waiting periods, and it was sad to have seen it. The family beside us was not thrilled after waiting for some time for their FLOUNDER to arrive. And I noticed there were several tables still without food even when they ordered before we did.

But still, I would highly recommed LU because of the GOOD FOOD. They say it's Moroccan, but they have other things on the menu. When I go back, I'd have to try their cocktails especially the Diab-LU. :)

It was a lovely way to celebrate Father's Day. I love treating Mom to fancy shmancy stuff once in a while because I know she appreciates the gesture. So to my beloved Mama, Happy Fother's Day. I love you!! :)

So if in Rockwell, pass by LU and you won't be sorry! Reservations are a must because the place really fills up! :)

Edible Mouse! :D

My childhood friend turned current officemate had a little treat with her yesterday. Although the treat wasn't for me (sad!), I was smitten by the sight of the treat IMMEDIATELY! On top of her table was a plastic bag from Go Nuts Donuts, seen below.

I didn't take much interest in it until I saw what was inside, obviously donuts (duh!:p). But the shape of the donut grabbed my attention. It was my favorite character: MICKEY MOUSE!! Oh my gosh! I just had to take a picture of it and share it with you guys! It looked way too cute to eat!

Yes, the mouse is now edible! :)

Although I must say that my loyalty is still with Dunkin Donuts and their brewed coffee, but this is just too hard to pass up! Come on! How cute are those Mickey Mouse-shaped donuts, right?

So I went to the Go Nuts Donuts website and found out that they have Disney Magical Treats. They also have Piglet, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger-shaped donuts! How cool! The 5 year old kid in me just jumped for joy!

I am gonna get me a Mickey Mouse-shaped donut later! Paired with brewed coffee, I can just imagine my taste buds exploding with delight! :)

So run to the nearest Go Nuts Donuts and get yourself one of these cool treats. Click here to find out more about these lovely donuts, and where you can find them! :D

ENJOY!!!
